Bridge to Nowhere
From Bridge to Nowhere Trailhead near Coyote Flat, the route enters Sheep Mountain Wilderness on the East Fork Trail and follows the East Fork of the San Gabriel River into a steep San Gabriel Mountains canyon of chaparral slopes, gravel bars and bouldery riverbank.
The path continues upstream along the rocky stream bottom, repeatedly meeting the river while passing the side-country of Laurel Gulch, Rattlesnake Canyon and Allison Gulch, with shaded pools, pale canyon walls and fragments of the old road corridor appearing along the way.
The hike finishes at the isolated concrete Bridge to Nowhere, a stranded remnant of an abandoned mountain road project, where wild river scenery and the backcountry history of the San Gabriel Mountains come together.
